I'd love to know what edge people think Android has over iOS. Other than installing semi-functional custom ROMs (which is a pita), I can't think of anything.

I guess your the only vote for apple up there :p

Firstly your paying a hefty premium for a device which does essentially the same functions. Apple devices no longer have any ground breaking or innovative features compared to android. That was the main reason I switched.

Generally, for customisability you can't beat android together with all the widgets/ icons etc. never mind the ROMs.

Ive used both cyanogenmod and paranoidandroid roms and have never felt they are semifunctional, if anything paranoidandroid adds even more functionality with pie/ holo. The custom rom scene continues to innovate and add new features which eventually get added into the mainstream roms/ android as they become popular.

Apple locks you in left right and centre. Whether its apps/ mp3s/ books/ movies. Simply transferring an mp3 which you bought from another source shouldnt have to be such a chore of having to use god-awful iTunes every time.

    I could go on..

    Yup. Bloody Android sheep.

Hefty? O2 and the likes pull your eyes out for the contract, but that's hardly Apple's fault. If you buy the phone without a contract they're about the same price. As for features, Android is a carbon copy of iOS now. A cheap knock-off :)

I find iTunes awesome. I can copy a HD film to my iPhone and then stream it to my telly without having to plug it in or configure a bazillion settings. Even my granny could do it. There's nothing for Android which comes anywhere near the functionality of iTunes.

Fortunately it's fashionable to hate Apple, which means I am finally fashionable. I'm hoping that we've seen the company peak, and with any luck they'll fade into obscurity.

I'd very much like to see some innovation come from Apple; it's been a long time since they've been innovative. I just hope they don't end up doing what Samsung have done, with their dozens of minor variations of the same product. The Galaxy Tab range, for example, is an absolute mess. Sony, HTC et al aren't much better, unfortunately.

Not trolling, that's just how I see it.

I see nothing new from Android, only re-badged stuff the iPhone had first.

    A quick search for "ios features taken from android" yields the following articles, which demonstrates that Apple are not immune to "re-badged stuff" from Android;

    http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/06/11/7-ios-7-features-stolen-from-android/

    http://androidandme.com/2011/06/new...-how-apple-is-now-playing-catch-up-to-google/

    http://www.autoomobile.com/news/ios-6-its-6-new-features-taken-from-android-dl/100319/

    http://www.infoworld.com/d/consumer...-windows-phone-and-android-get-used-it-220644

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'm merely pointing out that in a market as stagnant as smartphones, sometimes copying ideas from your competition is unavoidable. I suspect we're not far off of ios/Android/BlackBerry/Windows Phone being virtually indistinguishable in terms of features.

Oh come on, that's scraping the barrel a bit. UI styling is the best you can throw at em?

Weets I had a guy showing me all his 'new' iOS7 features that he was loving, most if not all I replied with "got / can do that on android". A few years back Apple were bleating about all their new features and they were found in Android 18-24 months earlier.

This thread potentially could be the best ever thread as the majority of BFB is pre dominantly android based. But I think I am going to be different here and pick both. I can easily be happy with either and have no real preference

Widgets and notifications, for example, are significant features that Apple took from Android. I'm sure there are others, but not having an iOS device means I'm not aware of them, and I'm disinclined to look into it at this early hour.

    yeh me bully :)

I have an ipad which I love . the trouble is wifey loves it as well and is always using it . I have been put off i phones mainly because most peeps I know who use them are constantly sending them back for repair . but tbh I have redders old htc desire hd , it still works and its all I need in a phone (gave wifey my new s4 ) cos at work they do take a bit of a hammering and I don't use any of its features I just use it for a phone so android is just fine .

do like all the praise for these nexus phones might have to look at one of them when this one conks out .

Apple, Apple, Apple. I own a few Apple products (apart from their PC's, not really good for what I want them to do) and they all are really good imo :)
