Has anyone noticed issues with using a RDS when using different FOV. I used to use a 90FOV on BF3 and the RDS was as apparently in ADS you had some zoom when using the RDS. Apparently in BF4 you only get a zoom with lower FOV (default 70 or less broadly). Anyone who has adjusted their FOV up to 90 in theory don't benefit from some hypothetical zoom players with a lower FOV get. TBH I did notice it was almost impossible to anyone at medium to long range with a RDS as they were c.3 pixels high on my screen but just put it down to BF4 being anew game and therefore have been using a 3.4x scope since then. I'm going to try lowering my FOV to 70 and using a RDS a bit and see if I think the game feels better as currently being forced to use a 3.4x scope to shot people more than 10 meters away is a bit annoying.
I've got my FOV at 80 iirc. While I agree that people still seem miles away when ADS, I don't really feel I'm at that much of a disadvantage. But yeah, you are right, people become about 3 pixels tall at anything further than 5m away :/ I may have missed it in the OP, but does it effect iron sights, or only RDS?
There's me thinking you'd dedicated a thread to me. Have you tried playing at a lower res/scaled? Doesn't look as good obviously but you stop caring pretty quickly. Game feels smoother, too.
you know your field of view should be set according to the resolution you play at and tweaked from there ? unless you playing with one hell of a large resolution shouldnt have FOV set to max creates a bit of tunnel vision
Resolution shouldn't matter, it's just how far you sit from the screen. Closer you are, higher the FOV.
It's all that matters. The whole point of widescreen monitors with a higher horizontal resolution is for a more natural FOV. If the in-game setting doesn't suit your monitor's resolution, the image will look non-uniform. An FOV of 120 is for multi monitor setups.
I meant generally... I can't imagine many people use a multi-monitor setup for BF4 unless it's to show the map.
So did I. 1600x1200 should have a different FOV than 1920x1200 due to the extra width of the monitor.
Not so much resolution but size and distance. The more of the screen you can see in your periphery, the higher you can set the FOV until the focus point is too far away that it becomes disorienting. Also worth noting the FOV in BF4 seems to be calculated differently to BF3, seemingly based on a fixed aspect ratio.
