So, Since some people are obviously better at vehicle whoring than others I thought it could be nice to provide feedback on what works well and what doesnt. For example. Tank Vs Tank. Absolute best way is to go fitted with HE and staff shells as well as active protection and autoloader. (You will need a machine gunner in the second seat though, for pesky c4 recons) Staff shell sniping is great but if you find yourself toe to toe 3 staff shells can be fired during the protection cycle, with possibly an he between 2 and 3 to really rub it in. The cross hairs on staff shells are fairly well spread, but once you get used to them you can snipe vast distances as there is zero drop off. Plus, you only need to get them directly above up to about 15 feet or maybe 5 feet either side of the tank and teh smart warhead will do the rest. I particularly like sniping tansk who are entirely covered by a rock or wall and getting them to shout hacker. Anyone else got good tank tips? Fast attack boats. When faced with a one on one in fast attack boats, I have had a deal of success with the following. Loadout is 30mm cannon and tv missiles. Empty the entire 30mm clip, then tv missile, then another clip. Sometimes thats enough, if you're fairly accurate with the 30mm, and sometimes a second tv missile is needed, if they have an active engy. Remember, if they have repair going on, its all about the speed in which you can apply the damage overcoming the rate of repair, so you need to be able to pile it on accurately. One other thing that boat whore drivers dont consider is that them stopping near islands with buildings and trees will have a high probability of their crew getting sniped. Try to 1, angle the boat to reduce the sitting duck moments for your gunners, and 2. try to keep moving, even a little bit of back and fore and side to side can be enough to put the sniping fags off their aim. a pair of good gunners means you can rape choppers and infantry all day, look after them. I am sure other peeps have better tips for boats too. Please comment
I found with attack boats that TV missiles do about 40 damage so a good technique is to go TV missile, a full mag with the burst cannon and then the second TV missile. Also, on Paracel bring up the full map (press M) to see where enemy boats are then launch a TV missile over the island towards it. There are some YouTube video's by Xfactorgaming with some great tips regarding the TV missile.
not so much a vehicle tip so much as an anti vehicle tip is that to get a missle / rocket through active defense aim low or guide rocket in at track level sraw is good for this as you can raise it at the last second to hit higher noticed the active defense doesnt cover the lower sections of vehicles nice trick with staff shell if you angle them under a vehicle they trigger the attack run straight up into the bottom of the vehicle to one shot it ive started using active missles on the aa as they still do 15 dmg per hit when they impact on a ground vehicle and they reload fast also fire aa in about 2 sec bursts stops from overheating
My tip which really applies to all vehicles is watch how good players handle situations before you go in them as you'll get a much better return than just getting in a vehicle without a clue of how best to maximise their effectiveness on certain maps. Most obvious thing of this was learning the scout chopper. Now everyone knows I have never been able to fly anything in BF series, but this time whilst helping a few members stay alive as repairer I started to learn how to maximise the chopper by simply being a passenger and see what works and what doesn't - it also helps as you unlock everything as repairer/passenger so that you not having a 1v1 fight with no unlocks. Ultimately this lead to me know being pretty competent in the scout chopper on the maps we play (with the odd exception)
All of this worked a treat tonight on Hainan. I managed to get 19 kills in one round, mainly taking out their attack boat, but also some infantry and armour. Line up a TV missile, if you know it's on target you can hit the exit vehicle button a few times to quit out of the aiming mode, it'll then just carry on in a straight trajectory until it hits its target. This way you can quickly follow up with a second and then switch to the main cannon to finish the job. Burst is best as it fires quicker than the standard cannon.
