Here's what I have been up to lately. There still more work to do on the setup but it slowly but surely starting to take shape. If you can take a listen through some headphones.

Sorry about video and sound quality but it was shot on my phone and then subjected to youtube compression. Hope you guys like it.

The lure of the darkside is strong :(

Also 5k strikes me as wrong, should be base 2, so 4k then 8k - think I'm getting all OCD about this stuff.

To be honest the core part of the setup is not the Mac. You can use any source whether it be pc, ps4 whatever. The actual core part of the setup is the Apple tv and the Dac (digital to analogue converter) I use.

The reason I use the Mac primarily is that I wanted to build highish end setup for music reproduction. I could of used my pc but there where the problems starts. James said it best once that Apple controls who makes their devices and have pretty much control over the quality of the components used. If doing it via PC then you have multiple vendors using varying components which don't always play ball with one another. I also find the quality less. Also when connected to an amp any devices which produce any kind of electrical noise will be amplified and you will hear it when listening to music.

You can still get very good results using a pc but I am kinda picky and wanted better. So I used my mac instead.
