Dell 4k Monitor About To Be Released.

From time to time although it not too often these days I see something which actually 'interests' me. The days of cpu, motherboards, gfx card actually making me so excited are long gone.

But once in a while something crops up. I have often had the conversation with Saundie about it and I know he is interested in it. THere are offerings available but at a high price from the likes of Asus and TV's doubling as monitors.

But Dell has thrown it offering into the market.

And with it being Dell it going to cost as it the flagship and I can't wait to order one depending on how general reviews go and pricing although knowing Dell it not going to be cheap. With their current 3014 commanding a high price tag I expect the new Dell to be even more pricier. There was going to be a PC rebuild and an another new mac setup. But screw that. If it priced around 2k then I am more than tempted as was my budget for the Mac side of setup and Pc budget setup was even more at about 2.5k. But none has got me excited as this monitor. Here is the link below.

Had this come out just six months ago, I would have been all over it. Really, I would have been. I have lost my enthusiasm for high end computer/technology kit, and there's no way I'd consider spending that sort of money on a monitor now. I am, in fact, considering selling off my Core i7-3960x rig...

Sorry GorkedWings19, I hope I have not disappointed you too greatly.

Well, that comes as quite a surprise.

I think I'm going to have to cut up my credit card. I don't think I can resist buying one otherwise.

Are you not going first this time, GorkedWings19? I went first when the 3007wfp was launched! ;)

There will 2 models that will be released initially and a third joining sometime after.

There will be the 24, 27 and 32 inch version of this monitor.

So I can see 4k monitors being more accessible but still limited to a very small market.

Even though OCuk are taking pre orders for the 32 I have found it cheaper at CCL computing they have it at 2100 pounds. I would expect the 24 inch version to come in at around the 1000 pound mark and the 27 inch around possibly the 1400-1600 mark.

I have my heart set on the 32 inch. 24 are for peasants, 27 is for wannabe so 32 it is then:)

Assuming they're all the same resolution, why would you want the 32" version?

what kind of setup would you need to push this screen?

You'd need at least a Core i7-3960x with 32GB of RAM and a GTX 670. As luck would have it, a member here happens to be selling such a system for a bargain price!

I recently saw a video of someone playing BF4 at 4K, running an overclocked i7 3970X and four GTX Titan's.

Is it bad that it doesnt actually look that much better? For a rig of that power.. and a screen that nice... I wanted a 4k monitor.. but now I dont!

Did you watch the video at it's native resolution on a 4K monitor? If not, how would you be able to tell?
