The time has come for us to treat ourselves to a new weight loss and fitness thread - the previous thread has grown outdated.

For my part, my goals are to get down from my current 186lb to 165lb before I run the Croydon half marathon in March. Further to that, I aim to run a sub four hour marathon in Bournemouth in October.

So, gentlemen, what are your goals for weight loss and fitness for 2015?

90kg is my goal, last year I got down to 107kg but then put a bit back on, so 90kg is my goal.

Are you making a focused effort, DragonSVD, or are you just generally cutting back etc?

As for me, I have started the new year on a positive note. My first 10k since September; http://www.strava.com/activities/235204832

Haven't weighed myself this morning but will go out for a run later today.

I just signed up for a half marathon at the end of March.

Yes MG, that's what I'm talking about!

Apparently I have "87 Days to next race on Sunday March 29th 2015".

Same day as my half marathon.

Are you aiming for a sub 2 hour this time? I still dream of getting around the half in under 2 hours... it's going to require a lot of hard work.

I can aim for it but getting it is a different matter altogether, not sure what the route is like and with only 3 months to train..

I am starting off this month on a protein sparing modified fast, which I have done before with great results:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_Sparing_Modified_Fast

The particular one I use is here:

    http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/the-rapid-fat-loss-handbook/

you can "find" the book here :)

    https://www.google.com/search?q=rap...5.5170j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=119&ie=UTF-8

I usually do about 800 calories a day mostly all protein with some greens and cucumber (everything coated in hot sauce which is calorie free) :) I plan to go for 8-12 weeks. I add walking and light circuit training to it, but have to be careful as I don't have a lot of extra calories and from experience if i go to hard I get sick.

I think I've seen the rapid fat loss handbook before, but I didn't come across it until after I lost the majority of the 165lb I needed to shed. 800 calories a day sounds like an ordeal to stick to for longer than a couple of days though; when I was over 300lb I ate around 1000 calories a day for a few months and that required a huge amount of willpower to stick to. I suppose it'll be okay as long as you're not exercising too heavily.

Its very difficult the first 5 days then it gets easier. In fact the biggest problem I had last time I did 12 weeks was remembering to eat. my appetite completely disappeared. There were busy days where I would realize at 7pm that I was still 300=400 calories down from the 800. Hard to believe but it happened. Helps that I have a lot of fat to burn :)

-39kg , and this will probably be my baseline going into 2018. Lost the most in a year this year and have managed to keep it off. Next year will be trying for -21kg. My health limited me quite a bit but hopefully I have that better managed. I did this year all on reduced calories dieting. Next year I hope I will be able to add exercise.

Good effort, DragonSVD. Hope you're able to maintain that loss, and keep up the good work!

well in almost 6 months, i only dropped 4kg, so i call that at least maintaining,,,,
  19. Saundie

    Saundie Prototype Staff Member Tagged

Yeah, but as we both know, it's one thing to maintain it for six months, and another thing entirely to maintain it for six years... I was 84.5kg when I posted this thread, I am now 97kg and I was 103kg about six months ago!

and you have to start somewhere, 6 months is a good start regardless.
