Ok, in the world of ready made food (UK), I dont have many choices. See in Czech every restaurant and pub makes a special lunch menu. Usually comes with a broth based soup, a plate of starch (potatoes in every imaginable way, or parboiled rice...disgusting) and some meat. There may be a couple slices of of cucumber, a wedge of tomato or some shredded cabbage thrown in the corner almost as a decoration. Not really healthy, but this is a throw back from communist times, when all companies were required to feed their employees lunch. Nowadays, most companies give employees a voucher for money for lunch. The company pays 55% and the employee 45%. You can use these in some supermarkets, but most restaurants take them. On a tangent, almost all pubs go smoke free for lunch, evenings you will smoke 1 pack a pint just from second hand smoke...trust me, disgusting. Anyways, lunch is usually max 3 quid, great price, but quality suffers Ok, so we have these lunches in restaurants. Me, I work from home or in my little office which is really a nice one bedroom apartment, so I usually cook my own lunch. I do admit, I am really jealous about how great your UK ready made foods are, M&S on every corner it seems Ok, maybe you dont like them so much, but trust me, here, we have some slop thrown in plastic that doesnt even tell you ingredients or heating instructions...basically microwave til warm.... So, the point of all this is that I found a ready made meal that honestly impressed me. When looking at where to buy more in CZ I saw that they are in Tesco in the UK. I have been working like crazy and didnt have time to really cook so I looked in the cubbard of cans, and found you normal, soups, beans, and other barely edible garbage...and then my eye was drawn to a silver can. Hell I think I bought it 2 years ago...its been just sitting there waiting. A can of Ma Ling Kung Pao Pork...now I bought this to TRY, not expecting much...but damn, it was great! Threw it on a bag of crappy boil in a bag rice and it was my lunch and dinner. It tasted pretty damn good, and even the canned meat wasnt too bad. I dont think it was all that healthy, but way better then a bag of crisps or three! so, I suggest to take the taste challenge and see if you agree or dont...its made in CZ and you can find it in here: http://www.adastrapacific.co.uk/ma-ling-brand-kung-pao-pork---new-8423-p.asp
I'll give it a try if I see it. I often stop at the cans of "All Day Breakfast", the idea of it disgusts me, but I wonder what it tastes like.
lol, me too. i think my can of beans and pork are 8 years old,,,they were on sale!! so today i asked my local bodego to order 20 of these for me..these means the kung pao
