So, decided its time to upgrade my graphics card into this decade! Eagerly awaiting delivery for tomorrow on the card (Amazon Prime, you rock!) Just some pics of the current mess that is my pc: Anyone got top tips for busting the dust? Could I have gotten a bigger Heatsink? Stripping it out : - Tonnes of greasy dust in the fans... oops NSFW : Naked Motherboard (Cmon now geeks, put the tissues away ;D
You can get dust filters that attach to the fans. Some cases have aftermarket dust fillers too. Failing that use a paint brush to clean the dust out or a low powered vacuum cleaner with a noodle attachment. A Dust Buster would do the job.
Hmm, that seems like a good plan... Will sort it tomorrow when rebuild.. Just had that horrible thought that the the extra USB card might block the new graphics card....
shouldnt 660ti isnt that much bigger than the 295 you might wanna consider a new case a some point in the future thou the ftw edition gets a little hot in the summer
Im planning to upgrade pretty much the whole thing at some point... It runs hot? Greeeatttt the reviews failed to mention that. Ive got the EVGA version which has two fans on it ... that should help keep the airflow going nicely...
you have the version with fans venting into the case or out the back ? mine ran at 80 degrees in the summers but that pretty much on max settings and my case airflow needed work
It should be pumping the heat straight onto the heatsink / two fans attached to that.. so with any luck it wont be too much of an issue... There is plenty of room around the current card, so if similar size, shouldnt be too much issue on airflow.
