Thought I'd create a poll to see what internet browsers people generally use. Choose all that apply. Do you use any extensions, toolbars, add-ins, etc? Personally I use Chrome as my main browser at home and at work, but occasionally need to use IE or Firefox (at work) for systems that aren't supported in Chrome. I find I prefer it over Firefox and IE, but then haven't really used them properly for so long. I like that I can easily sync by favourites and settings across all devices. I don't have any extensions installed.
When I'm on my PC, it's Firefox all the way. I've tried chrome a few times, but I've never been able to set it up to my liking. I use Safari when I'm on a Mac and use iCloud and 1password to sync bookmarks / passwords.
Mostly use Opera with chrome for the odd few sites that dont like it and use Silk on my kindle fire hd tho am considering chrome for it only extension i use on chrome is https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere
I use Chrome by default on the Mac and PCs. I do use IE for work when I have to and safari on Mac when Chrome doesnt work right and there are times it doesnt. Plus Chrome only has a 32bit version for Mac not a 64 which limits some secure sites like my bank. My favorite part of Chrome is how well it translates sites from Czech to English at a click of a button. Very helpful and since this was added, I have never looked back. For a password manager, I use lastpass which is free and works pretty well most of the time. I am trying out their mobile version too just to see how well it works.
On desktop I prefer Firefox, with a bit of Chrome depending on my mood - I like to live on the edge! For me, the only useful thing in Internet Explorer is the Web Archive option, for keeping offline copies of pages - though these days I'll just print a PDF.
Ive been using Crome and Firefox interchangeably for the last few years. Both support adblocker which has reduced internet hassle. Only issue with Crome is that it is owned by Google, who I wouldn't trust as far as i could throw them.
Google can put up targeted adds as much as they like. Makes no difference to me as long as they have straight forward functional and quick products. And microsoft/ any other company is no different when it comes to playing ball with the government/ complying with NSA etc.. Seems us tech folk go through phases of hating on a certain company and google bashing is the fad atm.
Google uses your info, but they fight tooth and nail not to share it outside google. MS gave in...i am sure they were incentivised to do so....
