It looks as though the PS4 is in the lead. Though GorkedWings19 raises an important point; the only way to cover all the bases is to get both.

Ryse just looks better on pc :) and if i had make a choice on game line ups and extra features id take a PS4 even thou i like the Xbox one social and media options better just would never use them hell most of them don't even work in Europe and with steam coming out the difference between a condole and pc is getting smaller besides cant afford £350-£400 on a console ill rarely use :)

Well, my monitor's just chucked it so I'm taking that as a sign from the ether. After much deliberation I'll be going full Mactard and purchasing an Xbox for games. Is anyone else still interested in joining the console peasantry?

But you can still use bootcamp for windows if there is any windows games that need playing can't you?

Well Evolve alpha testing has just began and I got in so see if you can sign up to it when you get your xb1.

I am also considering parting ways with the pc as well, I have a new mac project I am doing so I spend hardly anytime if any on the pc anymore.

Holy smokes I never even gave that a thought!! I doubt my ageing, bottom spec iMac would run games but no doubt that'll come in handy for other stuffs.

Watched a vid of that last night; does indeed look awesome

I'll be honest, life without a monstrous PC feels a little weird. But that's mainly because I'm not nearly as competent on a Mac. Are you getting one of those spanky 5K iMacs? Pics required.

Also, how effing long does it take to install an XB1 game??!!

Weets> The reason I suggested bootcamps is that even though stuff like steam is cross platform which means if you own a game on the pc and it is available on the mac then you own that as well without paying a single penny.

Having said that performance is better using windows under bootcamps then playing a game natively on the mac. One reason DirectX is microsoft. Not to mention you have access to the latest nvidia drivers and what not. So while you many not be able to run the very latest games on the outright maxxed setting you can still game pretty effectively.

I totally forgot about the Evolve alpha testing as I signed up a while back. But a group of us could have a laugh. Kinda reminds me of left4dead mode.

While I don't doubt I will be getting the new imac I am holding off for one single reason the amd graphics array within it is kind of a deal breaker for me. It would of made more sense to use the nvidia 980 platform. But who knows.

I have nothing against amd but a 980 makes more sense in my opinion.

My new Mac project is costing me more than a new imac 5k or a mac pro. I am building a mac based highish end audio setup. I have been testing it via a more modest and budget friendly setup. Long before I was involved in 50k and then BFB my first true hobby was high end audio. For the last 10 or so years I have been without an audio setup. I think now is the time to re-investigate it.

Years ago the thought of a computer based audio setup was frowned upon myself included. But with Airplay and whatnot, it seems it is more viable. From my initial testing using a budget setup the results seem promising. There are a few niggles I have with Airplay but the when it works it offers or seems at least to my ears the better streaming audio quality. From this initial testing using a budget setup (albeit with a bit of cheating) I have been actually blown away by the sound.

I will be using my Mac as the primary source fed into an old but very expensive Cdplayer/Dac. It is the DAC section of the CD player which is the core of the setup and funnily enough Apple TV...

So basically what I am doing is I am playing music, videos what not and streaming it to the Apple TV via Airplay. The Apple TV has an optical out output which is Toslink based. Which means the audio signal is carried through a fibre optic lead. When you out output the signal this way then whatever it is connected to does the digital to analogue conversion rather than say your macbook or the Apple Tv device. So potentially you have better quality sound than what it usually is.

The Digital to analogue conversion is done via a Burmester 001. Here's the link in case you are interested.

    http://www.stereophile.com/cdplayers/1203burmester/

which then feeds a Sony 1040 av amp which drives a set of Q acoustics concept 20 speakers.

    http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_images/master/concept20.jpg

While the Burmester itself is what I consider expensive I have had it a long time and it has been in storage for the best part of 8 years. I was suprised it still worked when I fired it up. The Apple TV and concept 20 speakers I picked up used locally on Gumtree. So those two items only cost me 270 quid.

My next step is to replace the both the av amp and speakers for something more befitting my cd player/dac. The speakers I will move to my PC and get rid of my corsair speaker setup.

So I am looking to replace the av amp with something like a Burmester power amplifier and for the speakers I have been looking at Bowers & Wilkins PM1 or the 805 Diamonds.

I'm toying with getting BF4 for the Xbox - is it any better than the PC version? And what's this EA Access crap?
