Hi All, Joking aside, Windows 10 looks pretty good, it has to be after the epic fail of Windows 8. The technical version is available to try from here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview Some reviews here: Tech Radar BBC PC World
I've been using it since it came out as only OS on my main PC. I jumped from Win7 to it and it seems fine. I've had some issues with AVG on it, I think it was the identity protection part, the rest works fine. Some games in steam wouldn't start also but I fixed that so quickly I can't remember what I did exactly. Everything else has worked fine. I've not had any issues getting around it like I did with Windows 8, I get around 10/TP very quickly, everything seems to be roughly where you would expect it. I think it looks fantastic although theres nothing amazing. The virtual desktops thing I had in Linux about 10 years ago, so I've got used to not having it in windows, I remember it was brilliant at the time but most people that need multiple desktops have multi-monitor setups. A word of warning if you want to use Windows 10 technical preview, part of the user agreement states Microsoft will take logs of your usage and files. This includes a keylogger. It seems to be an attempt to really focus on what users really need and use, but is quite an invasive technique.
I am contemplating putting it on one of the tablets at work - have you noticed any major issues, SexyHyde?
Not had any issues beyond a few games not starting when I first tried it and AVG identity protection error still not fixed that but I've not really put that much time or effort in tbh. I didn't do a clean install though I just used the migration tool. I have the image to do a clean install but wanted to see how good the migration went. I might just ride this out until the next version or release if they just patch through versions. I'll be interested to see how it works on a tablet as this seems a bit of a roll back to desktop compared to what I remembered of Win 8 pre release versions I tested.
Anyone got the latest release running on an nvidia card? what driver did you use? I've managed to get the it loaded onto the SSD, and initial boot is fine, but as soon as it updates I just get a grey screen after bios. I've gone back to Linux Mint. One thing I do like is how quick and easy it is to set up. Plus 70 of my Steam games work on Linux, never knew Borderlands 2 worked!
